Contemplation Stone XX

Sculpture

Ceramic, Stoneware,

22 cm x 26 cm x 13 cm

2021

It is an object of contemplation,

a sacred dialogue of creating,

nurturing the quieting of the soul.

Calming the currents of life and its movements, through the meditative practice of observing and primarily carving an entity which is equally part in the shaping of its presence as I am through accenting or for noticing it.

Guided by intuition, thoughts coming and going, while the sole focus is the event of the unraveling form itself, in front of my eyes, revealed, sculpted, brought forth, through layered gesture.

First, shaping the clay with my hands and feet. In a percussive manner often accompanied with vocal improvisation. Creating a beat, a rhythm and song for the piece itself. Then letting it rest, to re-embrace it, strengthened in its formed shape. Now carving away to reveal the shape folded within its form. Gradually a unique existence in itself coming into being, embodying and signifying all the experiences, realizations and thoughts that I had and lived in the process of its creation.

Gradually appearing a unique entity, only existing in itself, coming into being, embodying and signifying all the experiences, realizations and thoughts that I had and lived in the process of its creation.
